SOHR: IS Kills, Wounds 10 Pro-Iran Militiamen in Syria

At least 10 Iran-backed militiamen were either killed or wounded in an Islamic State (IS) attack near Syria’s Deir Ezzor province, a war monitor reported.

Islamic State militants carried out an attack against a military patrol of the militias at the junction of Ark village on the highway between Palmyra and Deir Ezzor in the Syrian desert.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, four militiamen were killed and six others were injured in the IS attack, adding the wounded were transferred to Basel al-Assad National Hospital in Palmyra.

The monitor further explained that the militias belong to the “Iraqi Said Al-Shuhadaa.”

The latest statistics reported by SOHR indicated that the Islamic State has carried out 31 attacks since January 2022, including ambushes, armed attacks, and explosions in western Euphrates and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Raqqah, Homs, al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.

As a result of these attacks, 91 soldiers of the Syrian Regime and their proxy militias were killed, the Britain-based monitoring group said.
