Refusing to hand over murderers | Tribe deploys military reinforcements and vehicles convoy against Suqor Al-Shamal in Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that Al-Haib tribe brought military convoy comprising 20 4×4 cars carrying heavy and medium machineguns to Midanky village in Shiran district and deployed at the outskirts of the village, after Suqor Al-Shamal faction refused to hand over the members involved in killing a young man of Al-Haib tribe at a checkpoint of Suqor Al-Shamal in Qazlabash village in Bulbul district, amid security tension in the area.

On May 2, reliable sources informed SOHR that members of “Suqur Al-Sham” faction which operates under the banner of the Turkish-backed “National Army” stationed at a checkpoint in Qazal Basha village (Al-Ras Al-Ahmar) in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside killed a young man of “Al-Haib” tribe from the southern countryside of Aleppo. According to SOHR sources, the militiamen opened fire on a car carrying the young man and another person escorting him, as the car was passing through the checkpoint in the early hours of Sunday morning.

SOHR sources also reported that the victim was in a car with a suspect “drug dealer”, where the suspect refused to stop the car at the checkpoint. Clashes erupted between the checkpoint’s members and the suspect, which resulted in the death of the young man.

Meanwhile, violent clashes were underway between members of “Suqur Al-Sham” faction and members of “Al-Haib” tribe, the victim’s relatives, where the tribesmen attacked the faction’s checkpoint in Qazal Basha village and in Sharan district, retaliating for the death of the young man.
