Assassination attempt | Unknown assailants open fire on ex-fighter in west Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SORH sources have reported that unknown gunmen opened fire on a man in Tafas city in the western countryside of Daraa, where the man was injured and taken to the hospital. It is worth noting that the hit man had been a fighter of opposition factions, before he struck a reconciliation deal with security services when regime forces captured the province of Daraa.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that unidentified gunmen shot a Bedouin civilian, living in Al-Hirak city for years, in the area between Al-Karak Al-Sharqy town and Al-Harak city in the eastern countryside of Daraa, killing him immediately. This comes in light of the ongoing security chaos in Daraa.

Since early 2022, the number of attacks in Daraa province has risen to 189, which left 147 people dead; and they are as follows:

  • 74 civilians, including two women and four children.

  • 55 regime military personnel, “collaborators” with security services and members with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

  • Ten former fighters who did not joined any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals.

  • An ex-ISIS member.

  • Six unidentified people.

  • A Russian-backed militiaman.
