Second day in row | Russian jets target area in “Putin-Erdogan” area

SOHR activists have monitored renewed Russian aerial bombardment on an area in “Putin-Erdogan” areas, where this morning an airstrike has targeted Mantef area in southern Idlib countryside. No casualties have been reported. This airstrike comes amid Russian reconnaissance aircraft flying over Jabal Al-Zawiyah.

Meanwhile, regime forces have also bombarded areas in Kabbanah frontline in Jabal Al-Akrad in the northern countryside of Latakia. This attack has coincided with the exchange of heavy machineguns with jihadist groups on the area’s frontlines.

Yesterday, SOHR sources in the “de-escalation zone” reported that Russian fighter jets carried out two airstrikes on Harsh Bayannin in south Idlib countryside. No casualties were reported. Meanwhile, regime forces fired more than 20 rockets on areas in Kafr Nuran frontline in the western countryside of Aleppo, as well as bombardment on Al-Fatirah, Fulayfil, Bayannin, Sfohn and Al-Bara in Jabal Al-Zawiyah in the early hours of Wednesday morning. No casualties were reported.

On May 7, SOHR activists in the “de-escalation” zone reported that Russian fighter jets fired air-to-air missiles on Maarat Misrin and Al-Bara in Idlib countryside that day.

It is worth noting that this was the first operation carried out by Russian fighter jets this May.

According to Syrian Observatory activists, this is the first time Russian fighter jets have carried out air-to-air missiles during the morning hours.

In April 2022, Russian fighter jets executed 39 airstrikes on several areas of the “de-escalation zone,” including 11 airstrikes witnessed the use of air-to-air missiles only. However, these airstrikes left no causalities.
