Rejecting construction of Turkish settlements in north Syria | Displaced people from Ras Al-Ain demonstrate in front of UN consulate in Al-Qamishli city
SOHR activists reported seeing a mass demonstration staged by displaced people from Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kanye, in front of the United Nations consulate in Al-Qamishli city, rejecting the Turkish project to build “settlements” in areas controlled by Turkish forces and “National Army” factions under the pretext of establishing a “safe zone.”
The demonstrators have called for expelling Turkish forces from Syrian territory and the return of displaced persons to their villages and towns who had been displaced by “Peace Spring” operation.
Areas controlled by Turkish forces and “National Army” factions are seeing the construction of hundreds of settlements by Turkish and Arab associations. This coincides with Turkish reports of deporting a large number of Syrian refugees from Turkey.
