SOHR: Syria reports dead from Israeli airstrike

Syrian state media reports that an Israeli airstrike on Syria has killed five people, including a civilian. Seven people are also said to have been injured. The Israeli side has not responded to the messages.

The rockets landed near Masyaf, in the west of the country, according to state news agency SANA. Some are said to have been shot down by Syrian air defenses. Syrians say the missiles caused wildfires and property damage, but it was not disclosed what exactly was hit.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the situation in Syria from the United Kingdom and relies on local sources, reports that four soldiers have been killed, including a lieutenant. The Israelis allegedly targeted weapons depots and command posts of Iranian militias.

As usual, the Israeli army has not responded to the reports. In recent years, Israel has carried out hundreds of such attacks on targets in Syria, but hardly ever says anything about them. In general, Israel has repeatedly stated that attacks such as these in Syria are directed against Iran-backed militias, such as Hezbollah.
