Old ordnance | Landmine explodes in Deir Ezzor countryside, injuring young man

SOHR activists have reported that a young man sustained serious injuries due to the explosion of an old landmine near the soil barrier separating regime-controlled areas from SDF-held areas in Al-Hesayniyah town in Deir Ezzor countryside.

 

On Monday, Observatory activists documented the death of a civilian and injury of his wife and daughter severely, due to the explosion of an unidentified object while they were playing with it inside their house in Al-Zaidiyah neighbourhood in Afrin city, north of Aleppo.

 

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 98 civilians, including four women and 41 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2022. In addition, 114 civilians, including eight women and 67 children, sustained various injuries in the same period. Among the total death toll there are a man and his son killed in the collapse of a war-damaged building in Darya city in Rif Dimashq.
