SOHR: Its planes are long .. this is Russia’s response to Israel in Syria

Although Moscow gave Tel Aviv a white card last year, where it launched Israeli aircraft and airstrikes on Iranian groups and militias in Syria, Russia’s position seems to have changed.

Russian forces, equipped with advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, targeted Israeli planes as they were returning from an attack on Iranian areas in northwestern Syria on last week, according to an Israeli “Channel 13” news report.

No accident has occurred yet

According to information, the unprecedented incident happened on Friday night, when the Israeli Air Force bombed several targets near the city of Masyaf in northwestern Syria.

The report added that the regime’s army S-300 batteries were actually firing as Israeli planes were leaving the area, noting that the system was operated by the Russian army and could not be launched without its permission.

However, the radar did not succeed in shutting down Israeli planes, and therefore did not pose a serious threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft, according to the report.

6 dead in a bombing in central Syria

It is noteworthy that if this incident is actually confirmed, this is the first time the “S-300” system has been used against the Israeli Air Force in Syria.

The incident will also be recorded as a disturbing development for Israel, which has carried out hundreds of air strikes inside Syria without response.

Six soldiers of the regime forces were killed last week in an Israeli targeting on the road of Wadi al-Ayoun, west of Masyaf, and al-Suwaida area in rural Hama governorate in the heart of the country.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the dead were officers and non-commissioned officers, citing that they were all killed after directly targeting an air defense vehicle.

Huge tension and concern in Syria

It is noteworthy that relations between Israel and Russia deteriorated last season after Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, especially after Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid accused Moscow of committing war crimes. , and Russia’s response to the “Jewish blood of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.”

Regardless of this historical controversy, many observers are really apprehensive in reflection of the latest round of tension between the two sides on Syrian territory, where Moscow maintains several soldiers and military bases, and this is seems to have happened.

Although Israel has often not disclosed details of many of its air strikes it has carried out in recent years against targets on Syrian territory, many analysts believe it was in contact prior to its implementation in Russia, or learned it in the weakest case, until the last situation occurred and the plan changed.
