13-day stifling blockade | Militias backed by Iran, regime and Russia siege Al-Rukban camp

SOHR warns of the suffocating siege of thousands of Syrians in Al-Rukban camp and calls upon International Organisations to deliver humanitarian aid after food and medicine run out

For the 13th consecutive day, militias backed by Iran and Russia and regime forces continue imposing a suffocating siege on Al-Rukban camp in Syrian desert at Iraq-Jordan-Syria border triangle.

Regime forces and Iranian-backed militia stationed at checkpoints prevent food and medicine vehicles from entering Al-Rukban camp. This suffocating blockade led to foodstuff running out of shops and to their price hikes, and almost total running out of medicines and fuels.

SOHR warns against the ongoing unjust siege on Al-Rukban camp, which houses nearly 8,500 displaced Syrians from several areas across Syria and calls on humanitarian and international organisations to work hard to deliver humanitarian aid as soon as possible.

Here is a list of some prices of stable food and fuel inside Al-Rukban camp, if any:

• Rice: 4,500 SYP/ 1.129 USD per kilogram.
• Sugar: 5,500 SYP/ 1.38 USD per kilogram.
• Bulgur: 8,000 SYP/ 2.008 USD per kilogram.
• Lentils: 12,000 SYP/ 3.011 USD per kilogram.
• Sunflower oil: 19,000 SYP/ 4.768 USD per litre.
• Flour: 4,500 SYP / 1.129 USD per kilogram.

Fuel
• Diesel: 5000 SYP/ 1,255 USD per litre.
• Petrol: 12,000 SYP/ 3,011USD per litre.
• Gas cylinder: 275,000 SYP/69. USD.

SOHR points out that the above-mentioned foodstuff and fuel are sold by persons only for their acquaintances. This does not mean that the materials are available. Iranian-backed militias and regime forces have already prevented the entry of basic materials and medicines into Al-Rukban camp and imposed significant levies on the materials that are brought into the camp.
