Third incident of security chaos in hours | Young man shot dead by unknown gunmen in Eastern Daraa countryside

SOHR activists have reported that unidentified gunmen shot dead a civilian, who was not affiliated with any military party, in Al-Misifrah town in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

It is worth noting that this is the third crime that occurred during the day in Daraa amid the ongoing rampant insecurity throughout Daraa.

Earlier today, SOHR sources reported that two gunmen had attempted to plant an IED in a vehicle of a commander of the Military Intelligence Branch near the government compound in Daraa city, but they were detected by the commander’s escort and clashes erupted between them.

This clash left a gunman killed, the other gunman managed to flee and a woman, who was at the scene of the incident, injured.

In a related context, unidentified gunmen shot dead a “Fourth Division” member near Jassim city in the western countryside of Daraa.

Since early 2022, the number of attacks in Daraa province has risen to 216, which left 172 people dead; and they are as follows:

• 84 civilians, including two women and four children.

• 69 regime military personnel, “collaborators” with security services and members with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

• Ten former fighters who did not join any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals.

• An ex-ISIS member.

• Six unidentified people.

• A Russian-backed militiaman.
