Military escalation | members of Turkish-backed factions injured in “Peace Spring” and Turkish forces shell 12 villages in Al-Hasakah

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have documented the injury of three members of SDF due to the Turkish shelling on the countryside of Tel Tamr and Abo Rasen “Zarkan” in Al-Hasakah countryside.

Moreover, five members of Turkish-backed factions were injured due to shelling by SDF on “Peace Spring” areas, raising the injuries to 11 distributed as follows: 

• Three civilians, three SDF members and five members of Turkish-backed factions.

The new Turkish shelling targeted 12 villages which are: Dada Abdal, Tel Al-Ward, Al-Boby, Khirbat Al-She’ir in Abo Rasen countryside, Tel Shinan, Tel Goma’a, Kasr Toma Yaldi, Assyrian Tel Goma’a, Ghaibsh Fokani, Ghaibsh Tahtani, Al-Tawela and Al-Abosh in Tel Tamr countryside north western of Al-Hasakah.

Moreover, the shelling caused huge material damages to residents’ properties and destroyed several houses of the Assyrian villages that were targeted.

On the same context, SDF shelled positions controlled by Turkish-backed factions in “Peace Spring” area, injuring five members of the factions in Al-Arisha area.

Earlier today, SOHR activists reported that three civilians were injured while they were harvesting in agricultural land due to ongoing rocket and artillery shells fired by Turkish forces on villages and towns west of Tel Tamr district.

SOHR activists also reported that some wheat and barley fields were set ablaze in Turkish shelling on Aboush village, located between Tel Tamr and Zarkan districts, in north-western countryside of Al-Hasakah.

SOHR activists reported that Turkish forces stationed in “Peace Spring” area continue to intensify their heavy shelling on villages and towns in the countryside of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasin/Zarkan, north-west of Al-Hasakah since the early hours of Sunday morning.

Turkish artillery and rocket shells rained down on villages of Dada Abdal, Tel Al-Ward Al-Bubi and Khirbet Al-Shaa’er in Abu Rasin countryside. Turkish forces also fired artillery and rocket shells on Al-Dardarah, Tel Shannan, Tel Jumaa’, Al-Ghaybish, Umm Al-Kif, the power station, Gibesh Tahtani and Qasr Touma, which are Assyrian villages.

This shower of shelling had triggered mass civilian exodus and left a SDF member operating under the banner of “Syriac Council” injured.

Meanwhile, SDF forces of “Syriac Council and Tel Tamr Military Council” waged a counter-attack by targetting “Peace Spring” area, amid reports that three members of the “National Army” were injured.
