Anti-drugs campaign | Clashes escalate between “Al-Mu’tasim Division” and drug dealers in Marea city, north of Aleppo
SOHR activists have reported that violent clashes have erupted between suspects and drug dealers on one side and “Al-Mu’tasim faction on the other in Al-Naama neighbourhood in Marea city centre, igniting terror and fear among residents, as bullet projectiles hit residential neighbourhoods. The confrontations have escalated as Al-Mu’tasim Division and the drug dealers have exchanged rocket shells.
According to Syrian Observatory activists, “Al-Mu’tasim Divison,” backed by “military police,” carried out a fresh raid campaign and arrests since this morning, arresting a number of drug traffickers and abusers, including members of “National Army.”
Moreover, Al-Mu’tasim faction imposed a curfew in some neighbourhoods in Marea city and blocked the city’s entrances and exits.
Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that Al-Mu’tasim Division operating under the banner of the National Army, backed by Military Police, launched a raid and arrests campaign, arresting ten civilians and soldiers accused of drug trafficking and abuse in Marea city in northern Aleppo countryside.
According to Syrian Observatory activists, members of Al-Mu’tasim Division and drug dealers exchanged fire and the Division managed to arrest a drug dealer in possession of narcotics. National Army also imposed a curfew in Marea city until the end of the campaign.
