Military escalation | Turkish forces shell vicinity of Ain Issa camp and positions in Al-Raqqa

Al-Raqqa province: SOHR activists have reported that Turkish forces have fired heavy artillery shells on Sayda village and the vicinity of Ain Issa camp in the countryside of Ain Issa district northern of Al-Raqqa. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

Yesterday, SOHR activists monitored the arrival of a military convoy of dozens of armoured vehicles of Russian forces at their base in Ain Issa district, the “capital of Autonomous-Administration” north of Al-Raqqah.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, Russian forces started to erect soil barriers on the opposite side of a Turkish base located in Sayda town, north of Ain Issa. The reasons behind this development remains unknown.

This development came in light of the Turkish president’s talks about conducting military operations targeting areas controlled by SDF in northern Syria under the pretext of establishing a “safe zone.”
