Second time in a week | “Salvation Government” decrease weight and number of loaves of bread packs in north Syria region

Idlib province: The “Salvation Government” has reduced the weight and number of loaves of each bread pack for the second time in a week. According to SOHR sources, the weight of a bread pack which costs five TL has been reduced from 525 grams to 475 grams, while the number of loaves in each bread pack has been reduced from six to five.

This coincides with the ongoing freefall of the Turkish Lira which is adopted in north-west Syria region, where Turkish Lira against the US dollar recorded 16 TL.

On May 18, SOHR activists reported that the “Salvation Government” in Idlib reduced the weight to 525 grams instead of 550 grams.

Moreover, the number of bread loaves was reduced to six from seven with a fixed price of five Turkish Liras, after the Turkish Lira declined against the USD to become 16 Liras for one USD.

The changes in specifications of bread bundles came after two months of stability.

Also, on March 13, the specifications of bread bundles were changed three times, where the “Salvation Government” reduced the weight to 550 grams and the number to seven loaves with a fixed price of five Turkish Liras.

While on March 9, the Salvation Government reduced the weight of bread bundle from 650 grams to 600 grams and the number of loaves to seven from eight loaves.

On March 5, the Salvation Government reduced the weight of bread bundle from 750 grams to 650 grams and the number of loaves to eight from nine loaves.

Moreover, the bread subsidy project, that was started by the head of HTS “Al-Jolany”, was suspended to reduce the public tension.
