Statement on Turkey’s incursion | Al-Hasakah dignitaries reject Turkish military operation to enforce a demographic change on Syria-Turkey border

The dignitaries in Al-Hasakah in northern Syria have issued a statement confirming their rejection of the Turkish military operation in SDF-held areas in northern Syria.

The dignitaries have called on the Syrian and Iraqi governments to shoulder their responsibilities and protect their territories from external aggression and occupation.

The statement by dignitaries in Al-Hasakah said: “We, as Syrians, hope that Iraq and Syria will stand by their peoples against the Turkish aggression that violates the human rights and aggression against neighbouring countries under the pretext of ensuring Turkish national security.”

“We appeal to the United Nations, the Security Council, Arab League and the good people all over the world to shoulder their responsibilities towards protecting the innocent peoples, to guarantee and ensure the freedom of peoples from Turkish aggression, and occupation of neighbouring lands, military attacks with heavy weapons, destruction of infrastructure, killing and displacement of civilians and enforcing demographic change in the occupied areas.”
