Unidentified explosion | Two Turkish-backed “Al-Mu’tasim” commanders killed near Ras Al-Ain/ Sere Kanye

SOHR activists have reported that a car carrying two commanders of Turkish-backed “Al-Mu’tasim Division” and their escort was hit by an unidentified explosion, near Al-Hawaysh village in the Al-Aaliyah area, south of Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kanye city in “Peace Spring” areas in Al-Hasakah countryside.

On May 26, SOHR activists reported that an unidentified jet executed an airstrike, in the early hours of Thursday morning, in the vicinity of Al-Manajir town, south of Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) in “Peace Spring” area, where a Turkish post is located. However, SOHR was unable to verify if the airstrike was executed by a Russian or International Coalition fighter jet.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the blast killed two commanders, one of them and their escort were former ISIS members. The bodies of the dead men have ripped apart, and the car was completely burned. However, the nature of the explosion has not been identified yet, whether it was an IED or a drone attack.
