Attempts to woo residents | Russian forces distribute humanitarian assistance in Daraa, Al-Quneitra and Tartus

SOHR sources have reported that Russian military police have distributed humanitarian assistance, including food baskets, in Sahem Al-Golan town in western Daraa. Each food basket contained a kilogram of flour, a kilogram of sugar, a litre of cooking oil, half a kilogram of tea and six packs of condensed milk.

This comes as a part of Russia’s efforts to polish its image in front of the international community and woo the residents with the aim of curbing Iranian expansion in Syria.

It is worth noting that this assistance is the second of its kind in two weeks.

In May 19, the Russian coordination office in Hmeimim distributed humanitarian assistance (food baskets) to inhabitants in Beit Khamis village in Al-Duraykish countryside in Tartus province. The food baskets included sugar, tea and flour, and they were distributed to families of people killed in conflicts and clashes, missing and injured people and humanitarian cases in the village.

On the other hand, the Russian reconciliation centre in Daraa province distributed 500 food baskets, on 12 May, to residents of Jilin residences in Tajam’at Al-Golan town in the western countryside of Daraa.
