Violations in Afrin | Arbitrary arrests and assaults escalate for ransoms

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah patrol arrested two civilians from Ba’danly village in Rajo district in Afrin countryside on May 28, in raiding operation in Al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhood in Afrin city, where the faction members accused the civilians of “participating in terroristic acts, planting IEDs and detonate explosives in Afrin city.”

On the other hand, members of a checkpoint of the 21st Division, which is affiliated to the “National Army”, assaulted a civilian, his family and his brothers in Jinderes district on May 27, after the civilian tried to park his motorbike inside his house that is located among several checkpoints of the “National Army”. The faction members directed racist insults to the family and threatened to expel the family from their house.

SOHR activists reported that on May 28, members of Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah patrol arrested a civilian from Afrin city near Kawa Haddad roundabout for unknown charges. Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah members took him to an unknown destination.

On May 27, political security personnel stationed at a checkpoint at the entrance to Jendires district in Afrin countryside arrested a civilian from Jenderes district for “Dealing with the former Autonomous Administration.” The civilian was taken to political security’s security headquarters in Jendires district.
