Under pretext of “staying in SDF-held areas” | Iranian-backed militias expel families from their houses in Al-Bokamal city

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Iranian-backed militias which control Al-Bokamal city on the Syria border with Iraq in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have expelled several families from their houses under the pretext of “living in SDF-controlled areas for a while.” It is worth noting that these families had displaced to SDF-controlled areas a few years ago during battles between regime forces and Iranian-backed militias on one hand, and ISIS on the other in Al-Bokamal city, before they returned to their houses nearly two months ago.

According to SOHR sources, Iranian-backed militias had expelled other families from Al-Bokamal city and countryside under the same pretext.

Iranian-backed militias had also arrested teachers from Al-Bokamal city for “communicating with their relatives who live in SDF-held areas.”

In March, SOHR sources have reported that Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, on the Syria-Iraq border, closed down “Al-Zahraa and Al-Mothaqafin” schools, arresting six teachers for “communicating with their relatives in areas controlled by SDF and giving them information on the positions of Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal city.”
