Amid flight by fighter jets | Gunfire heard in Al-Bokamal countryside

Reliable SOHR sources have reported that unidentified fighter jets were seen flying since early morning over the area from Al-Bokamal city to Al-Hamadan area and Al-Suwai’iyah town on the Syrian border with Iraq in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Meanwhile, Observatory sources have reported hearing gunfire in that region for unknown reason. This comes in light of the ongoing tension between two tribes, one of which supports the Syrian regime while the other supports Iranian-backed militias, in Al-Hirri town on the border with Iraq in Al-Bokamal countryside.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that tension was growing between Al-Hassoun tribesmen who are affiliated with regime “military security service” and Al-Jaghayfah tribe which is close to Iraqi “Popular Mobilization Forces” in Al-Hirri village near Al-Bokamal city on the Syria-Iraq border in Deir Ezzor countryside for the second consecutive day. According to Syrian Observatory sources, the tension between the two tribes evolved into armed clashes, leaving at least a tribesman dead and several people injured. These clashes were followed by ongoing deployment and mobilisation by the two tribes. However, the reasons behind this fighting remained unknown.
