Rising tension | Regime security services siege town in Jabal Al-Sheikh area in western Rif Dimashq and threaten to storm it

SOHR sources have reported that tension has risen in Beit Saber town in western Rif Dimashq in Jabal Al-Sheikh area is witnessing tension and regime security services have brought in military reinforcements to the area.

According to SOHR sources, the tension is ignited and caused by the arrest of two young men by a regime soldiers stationed at a checkpoint at the entrance to Beit Saber town yesterday. The people then attacked the checkpoint and freed the two young men, who were transferred to the capital, Damascus.

Consequently, regime forces stationed at checkpoints imposed a blockade on the town and began to prevent the entry and exit of the people until the two young men will be handed over.

Moreover, dignitaries in the town and regime officers are in negotiation to lift the imposed siege on the town and to put an end to the tension.

It is worth noting that, in late 2017, Beit Saber and Beit Jinn areas in western Rif Dimashq saw battles between regime forces and opposition factions, which led to the displacement of those who rejected “settlement” deals to northern Syria. While a large number of armed men stayed in their areas after striking “settlement” deals and did not join any military faction.
