ACCORDING TO STATE MEDIA, AN AIRSTRIKE WAS LAUNCHED AGAINST AREAS IN SOUTHERN DAMASCUS WHERE BOTH THE LEBANESE HEZBOLLAH AND SYRIAN AIR DEFENSE UNITS WERE ACTIVE.

Syrian air defense intercepted Israeli missiles south-of Damascus Monday without any casualties, according to a military source.

According to SANA, the military source said that “the Israeli enemy conducted an airstrike in the occupied Syrian Golan targeting points south Damascus,” and Syria’s air defense intercepted most of them.

“The loss was limited to damage material.”

A correspondent from AFP in Damascus reported hearing loud sounds in the night.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the airstrike was directed at areas in southern Damascus where Lebanese Hezbollah and Syrian air defense units were active.

According to the Observatory, which maintains a large network of sources within Syria, at least three Syrian officers were killed by Israeli surface-to–surface missiles last month.

Monitors at the time stated that the Israeli strikes targeted Iranian positions as well as weapons depots close to Damascus.

Israel launched hundreds of airstrikes against Syria since civil war broke out in 2011. These strikes targeted government troops, allied Iran-backed forces, and Hezbollah fighters.
