Ongoing looting at archaeological sites | “National Army” factions excavate archaeological hill in Jendires district, Afrin countryside

As Turkish-backed factions in Afrin continue their violations, destroying hills and archaeological sites in search of buried treasures and archaeological relics, and the destruction of Syria’s civilisational and historical heritage, SOHR activists have reported that Turkish-backed factions have been destroyed by machinery Hamo archaeological hill in Tel Hamo village in Jendires district.

The archaeological hill, like the rest of the archaeological hills, was systematically vandalized and completely destroyed by “National Army” factions in search of buried treasures and archaeological relics and artifacts.

It is worth noting that Hamo archaeological hill is registered in the restrictions of the Syrian Antiquities Directorate based on Article no. 244, in 1981.

On June 6, SOHR activists reported that Turkish-backed factions bulldozed “Qabah” archaeological hill in Afrin city in northern Aleppo countryside, which is located in rajo district on the Syrian-Turkish borders.

This hill is unregistered under the Syrian Antiquities Directorate, where it was subjected to sabotaging and bulldozing by heavy bulldozers causing the destruction of its archaeological layers.
