Years after closing borders | Jordan allows entry of foodstuff to Al-Rukban besieged camp

SOHR activists have monitored the entrance of foodstuff into Al-Rukban camp through Jordan borders for the first time since years, where the food was transported through “Taha” opening, which is designated to support the “International Coalition” forces in Al-Tanf base.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the camp residents had been obtaining foodstuff and medicine via smuggling for high prices.

This comes in light of the ongoing siege by regime forces and loyal militias on Al-Rukban camp for the 34th day, while the residents demanded entrance of foodstuff, medicine and fuel into the camp.

It is worth noting that Jordan closed the borders and considered the area as military area, after the terrorist explosion targeting a Jordanian checkpoint in the middle of 2016.

On June 5, SOHR sources in Al-Rukban camp in the Syrian desert at Syria-Iraq-Jordan border triangle reported that a woman in the eighth month of pregnancy had lost her fetus due to catastrophic health conditions in the camp besieged by regime forces and Iranian-backed militias.

On May 30, Russian and regime forces and Iranian-backed militias continue their strict siege on Al-Rukban camp in the Syrian desert, near the Iraq-Syria-Jordan border triangle.
