Ongoing violations | National Army factions cut trees and sell properties of forcibly displaced people in Afrin

As Turkish-backed factions continue their violations against people forcibly displaced by “Olive Branch” operation by the illegal sale of houses and systematic cutting of olive trees, reliable sources have informed SOHR that a member of “Malakshah” faction from Hama has sold a house in Afrin for 1,400 USD. The house is originally owned by a civilian from Qastal Miqdad village in Bulbul district.

Moreover, another “Malakshah” militiaman has sold a shop in Afrin for 3,000 USD which is owned by a man from Sharan district.

Furthermore, members of “Rijal Al-Harb” faction have completely and partially cut down more than 40 olive trees to sell them as fire logs. The olive trees are belonging to a man from Medana village in Raju district.

On June 4, SOHR activists reported that members of Al-Sultan Solaiman Shah factions known as “Al-Amshat” took over two houses in Kakhira village in Ma’batly district in Afrin countryside northern of Aleppo, to turn these houses into military bases.

The houses belonged to forcibly displaced civilians, following the Turkish military operation in Afrin city in 2018.

In Afrin city, a member of Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah faction from Homs city took over a house in Al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhood and rented it to a family for 35 USD per month.

Moreover, a member of Al-Sultan Mohammed Al-Fateh faction took over a house in Al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhood in Afrin city, before selling it for 800 USDs to the Civil Police.
