Old ordnance | Two children injured by landmine explosion in Deir Ezzor

Since early 2022, nearly 100 children injured and 54 killed by explosions of old ordnance across Syria

SOHR activists in Deir Ezzor have reported hearing an explosion near Ziyad hotel in Al-Rashdiyah neighbourhood, caused by the explosion of an old landmine, leaving two children, one seriously, injured.

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 125 civilians, including nine women and 54 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2022. In addition, 175 civilians, including nine women and 92 children, sustained various injuries in the same period. Among the total death toll, a man and his son were killed in the collapse of a war-damaged building in Darya city in Rif Dimashq, as well as the death of four civilians in the collapse of another building in Jubar neighbourhood.
