Asking for levies | Elder of a village among six civilians arrested by Turkish-backed factions in Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that a patrol of the Turkish-backed military police arrested a civilian from Kakherah village in Ma’batli district on June 14 for “managing properties of civilians collaborating with the former Autonomous Administration,” where the patrol’s members asked for money in return for his the civilian’s release.

 

Similarly, members of a military police patrol arrested two civilians from Ramadiyah village in Jendires district last week for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration.”

 

Moreover, members of Al-Sham Corps which is close to Turkish intelligence arrested three civilians from Qarrah Baba village in Raju district on June 13 for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration.” The arrested civilians included two siblings who have returned recently from Aleppo city. While the third man was the elder of the village who was arrested for not informing the faction of the return of the two siblings. The three civilians were taken to an unknown destination.

 

On June 16, SOHR activists reported that members of a military police patrol arrested a civilian from Kaila village in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside on June 14 for “going out on guard shifts during the control of Autonomous Administration” in order to collect ransoms.

 

In the same context, members of a military police patrol arrested three civilians from Nasriyah village in Jendires district in Afrin countryside on June 13 for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration” to collect ransoms.
