Turkey’s “safe zone” | Soylu conducts inspection tour of establishing new settlements in “Peace Spring” area

Turkish interior minister's visit coincides with infighting and clashes among "National Army" factions in “Peace Spring" and "Olive Branch” areas that left 15 dead and injured.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has arrived in Tel Abyad, north of Al-Raqqah, on an inspection tour of settlements being constructed by Turkish organisations in the region under the pretext of “establishing a safe zone for Syrians.”

The visit of the Turkish Interior Minister coincided with the outbreak of internal clashes between factions and Ankara-backed armed groups in “Peace Spring and Olive Branch” areas, which left two people killed, and three others injured in Tel Diab in Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kanye countryside due to the eruption of violent fighting with heavy weapons and RPGs between Ahrar Al-Sharqiyyah faction on one side and the “20th Division” and the “Al-Hamza Division” faction on the other in Tel Diab village in Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kanye countryside.

The violent fighting triggered the displacement of people from Tel Diab village and left two militiamen dead and three others seriously injured.

Moreover, Al-Hamza Division also seized headquarters and posts of Ahrar Al-Sharqqiyah faction.

The fighting intensified at “Al-Kaziya,” checkpoint, and a number of Ahrar Al-Sharqiya members had defected and joined the “Al-Hamza Division.”
