Al-Assad’s “thug” | Sulaiman Hilal Al-Assad commits new crime and flees from Latakia

Lattakia province: SOHR activists have reported that Sulaiman Hilal Al-Assad, which is one of the “thugs” in the Syrian north, is still on the run for three days amid news that he left Lattakia, after he murdered a regime soldier a few days ago.

The regime soldier was killed when a group of regime forces of Al-Assad interfered to break clashes between a group that belonged to Sulaiman Al-Assad and his brother Mohammed on one hand and another group of their cousin Bassil Ghayas Al-Assad on the other hand, in Qaroso village in Al-Qirdaha countryside after Mohammed Hilal Al-Assad was arrested a few days ago, due to the competition between members of Al-Assad family to control smuggling operations and arms trade.

The Syrians use the term “thugs” (Shabiha) to describe the gangsters of Al-Assad family who trade drugs and arms and bypass laws in Syria.

Reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that the regime’s security authorities have released Suleiman al-Assad, a cousin of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after his arrest in early August 2015, for killing a regime general following a traffic dispute in the streets of Latakia.
It is worth nothing that his father Hilal al-Assad was killed in Kassab battles in Latakia countryside in 2014, where he had served as commander of the National Defense Forces in Latakia.
