Anti-ISIS arrest campaign | SDF and Coalition arrest local ISIS leader east of Deir Ezzor

SDF special forces, backed by International Coalition helicopters, arrested a local ISIS leader on Friday night, east of Deir Ezzor, SOHR sources reported.

According to SOHR sources, SDF forces raided the house of an ISIS leader near Al-Daman village near Al-Basirah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, amid flights by International Coalition helicopters over the area, arresting the ISIS leader.

SDF forces found a warehouse of weapons and explosives at the ISIS leader’s house and confiscated machine guns and military uniforms.

On June 21, SOHR activists reported that Special Forces of SDF executed a wide-range security campaign with the support of the “International Coalition” in Al-Jarniyah village in Al-Tabaka countryside western of Al-Raqqa, and arrested a former commander of ISIS who had documents and technical equipment.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the commander participated in previous attacks against SDF in different areas and used to plant IEDs in cars and vehicles to target SDF positions on the frontlines during 2019.

SOHR sources reported that SDF special forces backed by International Coalition helicopters arrested a local ISIS commander in Al-Hajjnah village in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

It is worth noting that the ISIS leader was involved in transporting and smuggling ISIS members and was arrested in possession of machine guns, a pistol, and some equipment and documents.

This comes in light of escalating ISIS activity and attacks across SDF-held areas.
