Seventh anniversary of horrific massacre | Over 200 civilians in attack by ISIS cells on Ain Al-Arab (Kobani)

On this day seven years ago on 2015, a heinous massacre took place where ISIS cells attacked Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) and Barkh Batan village, murdering over 206 civilians according to SOHR documents, mostly women, children and elders in addition to injuring hundreds of people.

According to reliable SOHR sources, 32 new bodies were found in Ain Al-Arab as the Kurdish units (cells) managed to kill ISIS members who managed to sneak into the city disguised as members of the YPG and as members of a loyal legion.

26 children and women were killed in the attack on Barkh Botan village, which is located in the southern countryside of Ain Al-Arab (Kobani).

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) would like to bring to mind heinous massacres committed against innocent and peaceful Syrian civilians by all conflicting and warring powers in Syrian territory, especially since the killing of Syrians has been still continuing for over a decade.

We, at SOHR, renew our calls to bring all those responsible and those who aided and abetted the killing of Syrian people to justice. We also appeal to the international community and United Nations to intensify their efforts to reach a political settlement which could potentially put an end to bloodshed in Syria.
