Syrian mercenaries in Libya | Turkish forces command in Libya to halt back-and-forth transfer operations until end of 2022

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the leadership of Turkish forces in Libya has informed the mercenaries of “National Army” factions, who are in camps in Government of National Accord GNA-controlled areas, of the cessation of back-and-forth transfer operations until the end of 2022 without explaining the reasons.

Turkish forces have also informed mercenary commanders that they are willing to send an aircraft only when necessary.

On May 9, Reliable sources informed SOHR that preparation was underway in the northern Aleppo countryside, which is controlled by Turkish forces and their proxies, to send a new batch of “National Army” mercenaries to Libya.

The batch comprised nearly 75 members of various Turkish-backed “National Army” factions.

This batch was scheduled to leave Syrian territory for Turkey late this week to transfer them to bases in the Libyan capital Tripoli, as part of a back-and-forth transfer operation, where 50 mercenaries would return to Syria.

According to reliable sources, the mercenaries would receive only 200 USD after their salaries during the past periods ranged from 500 and 700 USD to 2,500 USD during the war in Libya.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the last batch of “National Army” mercenaries returned from Libya to Syrian territory nearly two weeks ago after their contracts ended.

It is worth noting that there are nearly 7,000 Turkish-backed Syrian mercenaries in Libya, operating under the banner of various factions of the “National Army”.

On the other hand, the Syrian mercenaries recruited by the Russian security company “Wagner” are still in Libya.
