Deir Ezzor | Authority figure threatens displaced family in Abo Khashab camp

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that residents of Abo Khashab camp in SDF areas in western Deir Ezzor countryside are suffering of abuse and verbal insults by the head of the SDF-backed Legislative Council in Deir Ezzor, in light of the deteriorating living and humanitarian conditions.

Residents of the camp demanded the administration to hold the head of the council responsible for his actions and to dismiss him, in addition to operating for the greater good.

According to reliable SOHR sources, a family in Abo Khashab camp refused to let their daughter marry the head of the Legislative Council known initially as “D.J.” in Deir Ezzor, where the head of the council threatened them and humiliated them in several ways.

Local sources confirmed that the head of the Legislative Council commits violations against the camp residents, where some described that he enslaves the residents, insults and humiliates them, in addition to controlling the entrance and distribution of food and supervises the entertainment activities, forcing the camp residents to demand his dismissal and punishment.

It is worth noting that Abo Khashab camp holds nearly 2,100 families and is located in the north western desert of Deir Ezzor in SDF-held areas, after Iran-backed militias pushed them out of their homes.

The camp suffers a tragic humanitarian reality, in light of lack of minimum necessities of life, and absence of humanitarian organizations.
