Iranian nuclear activity | Third Iranian expert arrives in phosphate fields near eastern Palmyra mountains

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that an Iranian expert arrived, under the protection of Iran’s “Revolutionary Guard,” at Al-Sawwanah site for research in the area of Iranian-controlled phosphate fields south of Palmyra a few days ago.

According to SOHR sources, the Iranian expert who arrived in the area is the third expert as two experts arrived in late March this year.

It is worth noting that the guard staff of the Iranian experts have been changed and are now being guarded by ten Iranian members of Iran’s “Revolutionary Guard” and they are transporting and moving by armoured vehicles in the area.

On March 29, 2022, two Iranian nuclear scientists arrived for research in phosphate fields area controlled by Iranian-backed militias south of Palmyra, Reliable sources told SOHR.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the two Iranian scientists move between Al-Sawwanah site and another site known as “Al-Kimawi Battalion” in the eastern Palmyra mountain range, in the eastern Homs desert through basements dug into the ground.

It is worth noting that Al-Sawwanah site, which resembles an “Iranian protectorate,” is fully fortified and banned from approaching. Near the location, there is a nature reserve that banned also livestock to approach. While “Al-Kimawi Battalion” hosts underground shelters and tunnels that facilitate the underground movement
