Fearing possible attacks | Afghan “Fatimiyoun” militia stockpiles weapons at fortified underground positions near Palmyra airport, east of Homs

SOHR activists have reported that Iranian-backed Afghan “Fatimiyoun” militia, which control the ancient city of Palmyra, has transported large quantities of weapons and ammunition to fortified positions in basements in Palmyra’s Souk Al-Hal area near Palmyra military airport.

The militias periodically store weapons at underground fortified posts and change their sites from Palmyra to areas west of Euphrates for fear of being targeted by Israel and International Coalition.

Yesterday, SOHR sources in west Euphrates area,” Iranian colony in Syria, reported that Afghan” Fatimiyoun “militia rehabilitated a tunnel linking “feed depot with gym” in the outskirts of Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

It is worth noting that SIS had previously dug the tunnel during its takeover of the area in 2016

Now, Fatimiyoun militia fully rehabilitated and equipped the tunnel to make maximum use of it.

SOHR sources also added that the importance of this tunnel to Fatimioun militia is that this tunnel links the fodder depots to the gym, which are militia headquarters in Al-Mayadeen area, as the tunnel will facilitate the transport and storage of weapons and ammunition without being monitored by flights.
