Second day in row | People go on strike and protest against National Army militiamen in Ras Al Ain/Sere Kanye

Syrian Observatory activists have reported that Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kanye which is under the control of Turkish forces and National Army factions has seen a general strike by shopkeepers and a popular demonstration in protest against the poor security situation, chaos, theft, corruption, murder and kidnapping or the second consecutive day.

These protests erupted over the killing of a jeweller and gold dealer in Ain Issa city centre in daylight near the military headquarters of the Turkish factions.

The protesters have chanted slogans that the “safe zone is not safe” and demanded an end to corruption, thefts, and chaos in the area.

Yesterday, SOHR sources confirmed that the victim had a commercial store in Al-Kana’es St. in Ras Al-Ain city, and was registered at the commercial chamber of Ras Al-Ain Local Council, and had a “Businessman Card” that allows him to enter and leave Turkey for business.

On June 27, SOHR activists reported that shopkeepers in Majin Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kanye in ” Peace Spring” area demonstrated today in front of Turkey’s “local council” after they went on strike and closed their shops to protest the theft of a shop in the centre of the city market by members of “Al-Hamza Division” of “National Army” and abuses by faction members against shop owners.

National Army members imposed levies on them by force of arms and stole goods from certain shops without paying money.

It is worth noting that Turkish-held areas in Al-Hasakah, Al-Raqqha and Aleppo countryside are witnessing daily abuses and violations by the “National Army” factions against civilians by imposing levies on flimsy charges and arguments.
