Iranian expansion in Deir Ezzor | Iranian “hosayniya” organises and supervises a trip for school students in eastern countryside

SOHR sources have reported that the “Al-Emam Al-Redha Hosayniya” in Hatla town in Deir Ezzor countryside has organised a trip for students of Deir Ezzor city’s schools to Ain Ali shrine in Al-Mayadeen city. At the tour operators’ instructions, the children have washed at Ain Ali spring with the aim of getting blessing of water there. In addition, an official of the “hosayniya” has given a speech about the importance of the visits to “holy shrines,” as he described. A “hosayniya” is a congregation hall for Twelver Shia Muslim commemoration ceremonies, for their proxy militiamen, where the Shiite Azan (call to prayers) is used and Shiite rituals are practiced.

This coincides with the ongoing expansion of the Iranians in areas which are under “symbolic” control of the Syrian regime throughout Syria, particularly Deir Ezzor province.

In June, SOHR sources reported that the “holy sites” of the Shia sect in the capital, Damascus, such as shrines of Sayeda Ruqayya and Sayeda Zainab (PBUH), witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of visitors of different nationalities, some from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and others from Bahrain.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, some Shia’a visitors entered Syria by land from Iraq. The first destination was the shrine of Ain Ali on the outskirts of Al-Mayadeen and other holy places in Deir Ezzor countryside and the capital, Damascus.

While other Iranian, Pakistani and Bahraini visitors arrived in Syria either through Aleppo international airport, or Damascus international airport which was back in service four days earlier following the recent Israeli attack that led to putting it out of service.
