Erdogan’s “safe zone” | New fight erupts among “National Army” factions in residential neighbourhoods in Afrin city

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that violent clashes with medium and light machineguns erupted in the early hours of Friday morning between “Sultan Murad” Division on one hand, and “Liwaa Al-Shamal” and the 9th Division on the other in residential neighbourhoods in Afrin city. The violent clashes ignited a state of panic among civilians.

According to SOHR sources, a dispute erupted between a member of “Sultan Murad” Division and another of “Liwaa Al-Shamal” and evolved into clashes between the two factions on the road to Raju district, before the clashes expanded to the populated streets of Al-Villat and Al-Siyasah.

On June 30, Observatory activists reported that a member of “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” faction was wounded in the leg during an exchange of fire between two members of the faction in Kafar Jannah village in Sharan district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo, following a verbal altercation that evolved into an exchange of fire.
