Nine families leave Al-Rukban camp in July | More families flee from dreadful living conditions, heading to regime-controlled areas

Reliable sources in Al-Rukban camp, which is located in the 55-kilometre zone in the Syrian desert, near east Syria border with Iraq and Jordan, and besieged by Iranian-backed militias, Russian and regime forces for months, have informed SOHR that three families of 18 people left the camp in the past few hours, heading to regime-controlled areas in Homs province.

Although there are no guarantees protecting them from persecution, these families decided to risk their safety and lives by heading to regime-controlled areas, fleeing from the dreadful living conditions in the camp which has been turned into a “grand prison” with 8,500 displaced Syrian people from different provinces living there.

Accordingly, the number of families which have left Al-Rukban camp since early July has reached 9.
