Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) | Uncertainty surrounds violent explosion rocks military headquarters of YPJ and “Essential Protection Forces”

SOHR sources have reported hearing a violent explosion in Ain Al-Arab countryside (Kobani) in military headquarters of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the “Essential Protection Forces” in Sarin village. It is not known yet if the explosion was caused by an attack or an explosion of an ammunition depot. SOHR sources have confirmed that several combatants sustained various injuries, and they have been taken to a field clinic in the area.

Earlier this morning, SOHR sources reported rocket fire by Turkish forces stationed in Al-Dawudiyah village in the east of Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) in “Peace Spring” area, which targeted positions in the villages of Al-Assadiyah, Nuwayhat, Al-Khadrawi, Tel Harmal and Abboush in Abu Rasin countryside (Zarkan) which are controlled by Syria Democratic Forces and regime forces in north-western Al-Hasakah. The Turkish bombardment triggered new mass exodus, where the targeted areas’ residents escaped to safer areas. However, no casualties were reported.

This came as a part of the Turkish escalation on north-east Syria region, including daily ground and drone attacks on military positions and residential areas in light of ongoing threats of a potential military operation by Turkish forces in north-east Syria.
