Raid campaign | Intelligence service seizes archaeological statues stolen from Palmyra museum in makeshift camp in Al-Raqqah

Al-Raqqah province: In the past hours Al-Raqqah intelligence service carried out a raid campaign in makeshift camps south of Al-Raqqah city, inhabited by displaced persons from Palmyra area in the eastern countryside of Homs, in search of weapons, SOHR activists said.

According to SOHR sources, the raiding force found two “statues” stolen from the archaeological museum in Palmyra, both of which are registered in the restrictions of the Syrian Antiquities Directorate.

SOHR sources added that the intelligence service follow-up with representatives of the Syrian regime to return the two statues to Palmyra. Persons in possession of antiquities were also arrested, and the intelligence services investigated them, and later released them.
