Ongoing Arbitrary arrests | “National Army” arrests civilians from Afrin

Aleppo province: Liwaa Al-Waqas operating under the banner of National Army factions launched an arbitrary arrest campaign to collect ransoms from civilians. The faction arrested three civilians from Hakkaja village in Sheikh Al-Hadid district on August 6 for unknown charges. The arrested civilians were taken to Liwaa Al-Waqas security headquarters in the area.

This comes in light of the ongoing clamping down on civilians by National Army factions in Afrin.

During the past few days, members of a civil police patrol arrested a civilian from Muhammadiyah village in Jendires district of Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo for unknown reasons. The civilian was taken to security posts in Jendires district.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that members of a Military Police patrol launched a raiding campaign in Jinderes district in Afrin countryside north western of Aleppo, and arrested women, children and a member of the “Syrian Media Union” displaced from Homs province.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the patrol arrested a media activist, a woman and her two children, who are displaced from Homs province, for “belonging to ISIS”, where the Military Police were forced to release the woman and her children under pressure of Homs residents. However, the fate of the media activist remains unknown.

In the same context, members of a Military Police patrol arrested a civilian a few days ago from Ma’rata village in Afrin countryside northern of Aleppo while he was returning from Aleppo, for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration”, to collect ransoms.
