Aerial and ground bombardment | Turkish forces shell areas near Derbasiyah countryside, triggering mass exodus, while SDF border guards retaliate by targeting Turkish territory

SOHR activists reported that Turkish drones struck a position near western Darbasiya entrance checkpoint in the northern countryside of Al-Hasakah on Monday dawn, leaving no casualties.

Meanwhile, SDF border guards retaliated and fired mortar shells into Turkish territory in a tit-for-tat attack.

Turkish border guards opened heavy machine gun fire on Syrian territory, repelling a counter-attack by SDF fighters.

Moreover, clashes with medium and heavy weapons erupted between SDF and Turkish forces, in which mortar shells were also used, along the border strip west of Derbasiyah.

Turkish shells rained down in the vicinity of Jatl, Qurmaniyah village, the water tank in Qiyat Karbashek and the vicinity of the villages of Shirik, Birknis and Malak.

Furthermore, Turkish forces also renewed their drone attack by hitting areas in Darbasiyah countryside, but, no casualties were reported.

According to SOHR activists, Turkish aerial and ground bombardment irrigated mass exodus of civilians from their villages, especially from Shirik village, and some residents of Darbasiyah have also fled towards Al-Hasakah.

It is worth noting that the area is now witnessing a cautious calm, while four Russian military armoured vehicles arrived in the area and conducted patrol there.
