Rising tension | SDF blocks Russian patrol in Ain Issa for second time in two weeks

SOHR sources have reported that tension has renewed between Russian forces and SDF in Ain Issa town in northern Al-Raqqah countryside.

It is worth noting that tension arise between Russian and SDF forced 16 days ago and was renewed today.

This morning, a solo Russian patrol exited from its military base in Ain Issa without any coordination with SDF forces, then SDF block the patrol, preventing the patrol from heading anywhere even the way back to the base.

On July 24, SOHR sources reported that the tension between Syria Democratic Forces and Russian forces in Ain Issa district reached an end, after having lasted for two hours. Earlier today, SDF had brought in military reinforcement to Ain Issa district and encircled the Russian base and patrols in that area following a disagreement between both sides during popular protests.

According to Observatory sources, protestors gathered in front of the Russian base in Ain Issa, demanding the Russian interfere and exert pressure on Turkish forces to stop their violent bombardment, but Russian forces told the protestors that they have nothing to do with this bombardment. Accordingly, SDF prevented Russian patrols from leaving Ain Issa or being deployed around the Russian base, before the disagreement between both sides reached an end.
