Arbitrary arrests | SDF arrests three people in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: SDF members stationed at a military checkpoint arrested two men, one of them a “teacher,” in Al-Basirah city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

SDF also arrested another man in front of a mosque in Al-Zer village in Deir Ezzor countryside. However, the reasons for their arrest remain unknown till now.

On August 7, SOHR sources reported that SDF members stationed at a checkpoint in Jazarat Al-Bohmayd village arrested a young man for “having a weapon and refusing to stop at the checkpoint.”

According to sources, SDF members confiscated the weapon and brutally beat the young man, after he had opened fire on the checkpoint and injured an SDF member.

Meanwhile, a group of gunmen, relatives of the arrested young man, encircled the checkpoint and clashed with the SDF members stationed there.

Following this attack, SDF brought in large reinforcement to the area, blocked the main streets, established checkpoints in that region and started indiscriminate arrests in houses near the checkpoint. SDF also arrested several women who were arrested a short time later.
