Ongoing violations in Afrin | Military police release civilian after receiving ransom while Turkish intelligence arrests another

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of a joint patrol of Turkish intelligence and military police arrested, a few days ago, a civilian from Maarsaka village in Sharan district in the north-western countryside of Aleppo for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration.”

On the other hand, members of Al-Sham Corps faction brutally beaten a civilian from Maydanki village in Sharan district, after having refused to evacuate his house and resisting the faction’s members who were attempting to seize his properties by force.

Meanwhile, the military police released, on August 4, a civilian from Bakhjah village in Bulbula district, after having received a ransom of 400 USD. The civilian had arrested for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration.”

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that members of a patrol of Al-Samarqand Brigade had severely beaten a resident of Kafr Safra village in Jendires district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo, and took him to a security centre in the village for unknown reasons.

Al-Waqqas Brigade also arrested two civilians from Hakkaja village in Sheikh Al-Hadeed district in Afrin countryside for unknown reasons.

Accordingly, the number of detainees in Hakkaja village rose to eight, while charges against them remained unknown.

Meanwhile, a military police patrol arrested a civilian from Sheikh Al-Hadeed district near Al-Qaws checkpoint in Jendires district for unknown charges.

In Kafr Zeit village in Jendires district in Afrin countryside, gunmen of Al-Mawali tribe operating under the banner of Al-Hamza Division severely beat and insulted a resident and his son in the village, firing bullets in the air to intimidate them to leave their homes.

This came after the civilian had expressed his rejection of herding sheep by a group of shepherds inside civilian homes and stables.

Ironically, the military police arrested the civilian and his son for no accusations and transferred them to Jendires district, instead of saving the civilians’ properties.
