Escalating infightings | Two Turkish-backed militiamen killed in Ras Al-Ain city

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported growing tension between two tribes operating under the banner of Turkish-backed factions in “Peace Spring” area, namely in Ras Al-Ain city in Al-Hasakah countryside, amid closure of shops and lack of movement of civilians. This tension coincides with the ongoing infighting between Al-Muwali tribe, whose members work for Al-Hamza Division, and Adawan tribe, whose members work for Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah faction, which ignited after militiamen of Al-Muwali tribe handed over a militiaman from Adawan tribe to the military police.

The infighting has left a militiaman from each tribe dead and a little girl injured. In addition, many civilian houses has sustained material damage due to the infighting which witnessed the use of heavy weapons.

Moreover, SOHR activists have reported seeing the two sides being put on high alert, along with bringing military reinforcement. Meanwhile, Adawan tribe has demanded holding accountable the militiamen who handed over the member of Adawan tribe to the military police and expelling Al-Muwali tribe from that area under the pretext that “they were strangers and did not belong to the eastern region.”

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported violent clashes with heavy weapons between Al-Muwali tribesmen and gunmen of Adawan tribe in Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) in areas held by Ankara-backed factions in Al-Hasakah countryside. These violent clashes broke out over the handover of an Adawan tribesman to the military police by Al-Muwali tribe a day earlier. These armed clashes left casualties on both tribes and ignited panic and resentment among the people and residents of Ras Al-Ain city.

It is worth noting that “Peace Spring” area experienced three infightings in July, which left several people injured.
