SOHR: Turkish Forces Bombard Two Villages in Hasakah

Turkish forces on Saturday bombarded two villages in Syria’s Hasakah province, with no casualties reported, a war monitor said.

“The shelling was carried out by the Turkish forces stationed in “Peace Spring” area, targeting al-Dardara and al-Shaikh Ali villages in Hasakah countryside,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The security situation in northeast of Syria has once again deteriorated lately.

Turkish forces earlier today carried out similar bombardments on the villages of Tawila, Kouzlia and Tel al-Laban which are under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and regime forces, in Tel Tamr countryside northwest of Hasakah.

This comes a day after two members of the Tel Tamr Military Council were killed in a Turkish shelling in al-Dardar village in Tel Tamr countryside northwest of Hasakah.

Speaking to BasNews on condition of anonymity, a source said on Saturday that the SDF had suspended anti-Islamic State (IS) operations with the US-led Coalition to protest the growing Turkish attacks in the region.

“The suspension of military operations with the International Coalition is a way the SDF uses to pressure Turkey to stop its attacks,” the source said.
