Dispute over fuel smuggling | National Defence members clash with Asoud Al-Sharqiyyah militiamen in Iranian-held areas west of the Euphrates

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources, in Al-Ashara city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside in areas controlled by regime forces and iranian-backed militias, have reported that clashes with medium weapons have broken out between “National Defence” members and an armed group of “Ausud Al-Sharqiyyah militia near Hikma hospital in Al-Ashara city yesterday midnight.

These clashes erupted following a dispute between the two groups over routes used for fuel smuggling and left no casualties.

On July 19, SOHR sources reported that clashes broke out between a militia affiliated with Iran’s “Revolutionary Guard” and another group affiliated with “State Security” branch in Al-Bokamal border city with Iraq in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor on Tuesday, and lasted until Wednesday evening.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the clashes broke out near an automotive bread bakery in Al-Bokamal city centre and in the middle of the residential neighbourhoods

These clashes left a prominent member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia injured and ignites panic and fear among the people.

It also coincided with the closure of shops in Al-Bokamal city.
