Extortion to collect ransoms | Military Police release woman for ransom, while Civil Police arrest four civilians in Afrin countryside

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that a Civil Police patrol arrested four civilians from Nasiriyah and Ramadiyah villages in Jendires district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo during the past few days, for “dealing with the former Autonmous-Administration” to collect ransoms.

Meanwhile, the military police released a woman from Deir Sawan village in Sharan district of Afrin countryside, in exchange for a ransom of 2000 Turkish lire after being arrested for “dealing with the former Autonmous-Administration.”

Turkish proxies committed these violations and arrests to exert pressure on the families of those arrested, and to force them to pay ransoms.

On August 16, SOHR activists reported that during the past few days members of a Military Police patrol arrested a civilian from Maaraska village in Sharan district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo for “dealing with Autonomous-Administration.”

Moreover, members of another Military Police patrol arrested two civilians from Afrin city and Bargzah village in Jendires district in Afrin countryside, on the same charge to collect ransoms.
